Video statement on the occasion <\/strong>of 2 August 2024, Holocaust Memorial Day for Sinti and Roma
<\/strong><\/p>

Wir gedenken dem unvorstellbaren Leid, das Sinti und Roma w\u00e4hrend des Holocausts angetan wurde. Am 2. August 1944 wurden in Auschwitz-Birkenau 4.300 Sinti und Roma brutal ermordet. Insgesamt wurden in Europa sch\u00e4tzungsweise 500.000 Sinti und Roma ermordet. Dieser Tag mahnt uns, nie zu vergessen und wachsam gegen\u00fcber den Gefahren des Rassismus, Antiziganismus und Antisemitismus zu bleiben.<\/p>

Der Massenmord an den Sinti und Roma ist ein tiefes und schmerzliches Kapitel unserer Geschichte. Der Kampf gegen Antiziganismus und alle Formen von Rassismus ist unsere gemeinsame Aufgabe.<\/p>

Die Diskriminierung endete nicht nach 1945 und es dauerte viel zu lange bis das Leid und der V\u00f6lkermord an den Sinti und Roma anerkannt wurde. So entschied im Januar 1956 der Bundesgerichtshof noch, dass in der Deportation der Sinti und Roma \u201ekeine nationalsozialistische Gewaltma\u00dfnahme aus Gr\u00fcnden der Rasse \u2026 erkennbar sei.\u201c Die \u201easozialien Eigenschaften\u201c seien vielmehr daf\u00fcr verantwortlich gewesen. Erst 2016 entschuldigte sich die Pr\u00e4sidentin des BGH f\u00fcrs dieses Unrechtsurteil.<\/p>

Wir sehen leider, dass Antiziganismus und rechte Gewalt weiterhin zum Alltag in Deutschland geh\u00f6ren. Ob Beleidigungen, Drohungen, Gewalt und Vorurteile bei Beh\u00f6rden: Im vergangenen Jahr haben sich die registrierten F\u00e4lle verdoppelt auf \u00fcber 1200 F\u00e4lle.<\/p>

Der Kampf gegen Antisemitismus, gegen faschistische Ideologie und alte und neue Nazis ist unser aller Auftrag. Eine breit aufgestellte Zivilgesellschaft ist das beste Mittel gegen das Gift, welches Rassisten und Faschisten auch heute tagt\u00e4glich verspr\u00fchen. Der erstarkende Rechtsextremismus und die zunehmende rassistische Gewalt erfordern unseren entschiedenen Widerstand. Rechte Kr\u00e4fte, die versuchen, unsere Gesellschaft zu spalten, m\u00fcssen den Druck der Zivilgesellschaft und eine klare Verurteilung durch politisch Verantwortliche erfahren.<\/p>

Es ist nicht hoch genug zu w\u00fcrdigen, welche wichtige Arbeit der Zentralrat Deutscher Sinti und Roma f\u00fcr die Erinnerungskultur geleistet hat, damit der Massenmord an den Sinti und Roma anerkannt wird und nicht in Vergessenheit ger\u00e4t.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
