Der franz\u00f6sische Holocaust-\u00dcberlebende Raymond Gur\u00eame ist am Sonntag, 24. Mai 2020, im Alter von 94 Jahren verstorben.<\/p>

Mehrmals begleitete Raymond Gur\u00eame im Rahmen der Jugend-Gedenkinitiative \"Dikh he na Bister\" anl\u00e4sslich des Europ\u00e4ischen Holocaust-Gedenktages der Sinti und Roma junge Sinti und Roma nach Krakau und Auschwitz.<\/p>

In seiner Rede bei der Gedenkveranstaltung in Auschwitz-Birkenau am 2. August 2016 rief er, wie so oft, besonders junge Menschen zum gemeinsamen Kampf gegen Antiziganismus und Gewalt auf:<\/p>

\"Mein Augenzeugenbericht ist f\u00fcr junge Leute.\u00a0<\/em>\u00dcberlasst eure Zukunft nicht den H\u00e4nden von blutigen Narren!\u00a0<\/em>Ihr m\u00fcsst Widerstand leisten. Ihr m\u00fcsst Widerstand leisten gegen die Diskriminierung, den Rassismus, die gewaltsamen Vertreibungen, denen die Roma und Reisenden in ganz Europa zum Opfer fallen.\u00a0<\/em>Wir, die Alten, haben die Flamme entz\u00fcndet. Jetzt ist es an den jungen Menschen, sie zu n\u00e4hren, sie wachsen zu lassen, damit wir st\u00e4rker werden. Junge Leute, steht auf! Bleibt stehen, und fallt nicht auf die Knie!\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>

Raymond Gur\u00eame wurde 1925 in eine franz\u00f6sische Manouches-Familie geboren. Seit seinem zweiten Lebensjahr trat Raymond als Akrobat oder Clown im familieneigenen Wanderzirkus auf. Im Oktober 1940 wurde die gesamte Familie von franz\u00f6sischen Gendarmen verhaftet, als die deutsche Besatzungsmacht die Zwangsumsiedlung aller Manouches anordnete. Einen Monat sp\u00e4ter wurden die Gur\u00eames in das Internierungslager Linas-Montlh\u00e9ry geschickt. Obwohl Raymond im Sommer 1941 die Flucht gelang, wurde der Rest seiner Familie nach Muslane und Montreuil-Bellay deportiert, einem der gr\u00f6\u00dften Konzentrationslager f\u00fcr sogenannte Nichtsesshafte in Frankreich.\n\nEr arbeitete auf Bauernh\u00f6fen und kehrte immer wieder nach Linas und sp\u00e4ter nach Montreuil-Bellay zur\u00fcck, um Lebensmittel in die Lager zu schmuggeln. Im August 1943 wurde er erneut verhaftet und in ein Arbeitslager in Heddernheim, Hessen, deportiert, wo er nach Bombenangriffen Leichen bergen musste. Bei einer Gelegenheit wurde er von einem Nazi brutal zusammengeschlagen und verlor das Augenlicht auf einem Auge. Schlie\u00dflich entkam Raymond erneut mit Hilfe eines franz\u00f6sischen Bahnarbeiters, der ihn in einem Zug versteckte und zur\u00fcck nach Frankreich fuhr. Erst 1950 gelang es ihm, wieder mit seiner Familie zusammenzukommen. Nach dem Krieg erhielten sie weder finanzielle noch moralische Unterst\u00fctzung. Angesichts des zunehmenden Antiziganismus und Rassismus in Frankreich und ganz Europa engagierte sich Raymond Gur\u00eame vor allem in den letzten zehn Jahren in der Holocaust-Gedenkarbeit mit Jugendlichen sowie in der B\u00fcrgerrechtsarbeit. Seine Geschichte wurde in dem Werk \"Interdit aux nomades\" (Nomaden im Bann) von Isabelle Ligner ver\u00f6ffentlicht.<\/p>
