Das Video nimmt den Zuschauer mit auf eine kurze virtuelle F\u00fchrung durch die Dauerausstellung zum V\u00f6lkermord an Sinti und Roma im nationalsozialistisch besetzten Europa, die im Block 13 des Staatlichen Museums Auschwitz-Birkenau untergebracht ist. Die Ausstellung stellt zwei Elemente gegen\u00fcber. Sie zeigt die Geschichte der Verfolgung und Vernichtung der Sinti und Roma durch die Nazis. Anhand von privaten Dokumenten und Familienfotos zeigt sie aber auch die Normalit\u00e4t des Zusammenlebens von Sinti und Roma mit ihren Nachbarn in verschiedenen europ\u00e4ischen Staaten. In Auschwitz-Birkenau wurden am 2. August 1944 die letzten 4.300 Sinti und Roma trotz ihres erbitterten Widerstandes ermordet. Heute begehen wir den 2. August als Europ\u00e4ischen Holocaust-Gedenktag f\u00fcr Sinti und Roma im Gedenken an die 500.000 Sinti und Roma, die w\u00e4hrend des Holocausts im von den Nazis besetzten Europa ermordet wurden. <\/strong><\/p>

Erz\u00e4hlung <\/strong><\/p>

Die Dauerausstellung im Block 13 des Staatlichen Museums Auschwitz-Birkenau widmet sich dem Holocaust an Sinti und Roma im nationalsozialistisch besetzten Europa. Die Ausstellung stellt zwei Elemente gegen\u00fcber. Sie zeigt die Geschichte der Verfolgung und Vernichtung der Sinti und Roma durch die Nazis. Anhand von privaten Dokumenten und Familienfotos zeigt sie aber auch die Normalit\u00e4t des Zusammenlebens von Sinti und Roma mit ihren Nachbarn in verschiedenen europ\u00e4ischen Staaten.\u00a0<\/p>

Sinti und Roma waren den gleichen diskriminierenden Regelungen unterworfen wie die j\u00fcdische Bev\u00f6lkerung. Die ber\u00fcchtigten N\u00fcrnberger Rassengesetze wurden auch auf Sinti und Roma angewandt. Nach und nach wurden sie aus allen Bereichen des \u00f6ffentlichen Lebens ausgeschlossen. Sie durften nicht mehr Mitglied in Handels- und Berufsverb\u00e4nden sein. Ihre Kinder durften keine \u00f6ffentlichen Schulen mehr besuchen. Schlie\u00dflich wurden sie auch vom Milit\u00e4rdienst in der Wehrmacht ausgeschlossen.<\/p>

Mit der Ausweitung der deutschen Herrschaft w\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkriegs verschlechterte sich die Situation f\u00fcr Sinti und Roma. In den besetzten Gebieten sowie in den mit dem NS-Regime verb\u00fcndeten Staaten traten Verfolgungsma\u00dfnahmen in Kraft, die auf die Vernichtung aller Sinti und Roma sowie der Juden abzielten.<\/p>

Gleichzeitig begann die NS-F\u00fchrung, die Deportation aller Sinti und Roma aus dem Deutschen Reich vorzubereiten. Im Oktober 1939 erlie\u00df Heinrich Himmler einen neuen Erlass: Sinti und Roma durften ihre Wohnorte nicht mehr verlassen. Wer dagegen verstie\u00df, lief Gefahr, in ein Konzentrationslager deportiert zu werden. Im April 1940 wurden 2.500 Sinti und Roma aus dem Deutschen Reich in Ghettos und Konzentrationslager im besetzten \"Generalgouvernement Polen\" deportiert. Polen wurde zu einem der zentralen Orte der deutschen Vernichtungspolitik. Vor allem ab 1942 fielen sowohl die ins besetzte Polen deportierten deutschen Sinti als auch die polnischen Roma den SS-Mordkommandos zum Opfer oder wurden in den Vernichtungslagern w\u00e4hrend der Aktion Reinhardt ermordet. Heute sind etwa 180 Orte von Massenexekutionen an Sinti und Roma in Polen bekannt. Die tats\u00e4chliche Zahl ist zweifellos viel h\u00f6her.<\/p>

Der Holocaust an den Sinti und Roma wurde von der NS-F\u00fchrung in Berlin geplant und organisiert. Sein Ziel war die systematische Ermordung aller Sinti und Roma im gesamten von den Nazis besetzten Europa. Im Osten Europas wurden Hunderttausende durch Massenerschie\u00dfungen get\u00f6tet. Viele Orte der Massenexekutionen warten auch heute noch darauf, identifiziert zu werden.<\/p>

Ab Februar 1943 wurden 23.000 Sinti und Roma aus elf europ\u00e4ischen Staaten in das Vernichtungslager Auschwitz-Birkenau deportiert. Im Lagerabschnitt B II e wurde ein eigenes Lager f\u00fcr Sinti und Roma eingerichtet. Auf Befehl von Heinrich Himmler wurden ganze Familien von der Gestapo und der SS deportiert. In G\u00fcterwaggons gepfercht, starben viele auf der oft mehrt\u00e4gigen Fahrt nach Auschwitz. Diejenigen, die diese Tortur \u00fcberlebten, wurden von der SS registriert. Sie bekamen ein \"Z\" mit einer Nummer auf den Arm t\u00e4towiert, kleine Kinder auf den Oberschenkel. Ein gro\u00dfer Teil der H\u00e4ftlinge fiel den grausamen Bedingungen im Lager und den st\u00e4ndigen Gewalttaten der SS-M\u00e4nner zum Opfer.<\/p>

Am 16. Mai 1944 musste die SS einen ersten Versuch, alle noch in Auschwitz-Birkenau lebenden Sinti und Roma zu ermorden, abbrechen. Die H\u00e4ftlinge hatten sich mit Steinen und Werkzeugen bewaffnet und sich in den Baracken verbarrikadiert. Der Widerstand wurde von ehemaligen Wehrmachtsangeh\u00f6rigen organisiert, die wegen ihrer Roma-Zugeh\u00f6rigkeit nach Auschwitz deportiert worden waren. Um \u00e4hnliche Widerstandshandlungen zu verhindern, wurden in den folgenden Monaten etwa 3.000 Sinti und Roma aus Auschwitz in andere Konzentrationslager gebracht.<\/p>

In Auschwitz-Birkenau blieben etwa 4.300 Sinti und Roma zur\u00fcck, haupts\u00e4chlich alte Menschen und Kinder. Trotz ihres verzweifelten Widerstandes wurden sie alle in der Nacht des 2. August 1944 ermordet. Heute begehen wir den 2. August als Europ\u00e4ischen Holocaust-Gedenktag f\u00fcr Sinti und Roma.<\/p>

Dieses Video zeigt den Kontext der Dauerausstellung \u00fcber den V\u00f6lkermord an Sinti und Roma im nationalsozialistisch besetzten Europa, die im Block 13 des Staatlichen Museums Auschwitz-Birkenau zu sehen ist. Das Video zeigt, wie die Ausstellung - durch eine einzigartige Sammlung von Familienfotos und Dokumenten - eine Normalit\u00e4t des allt\u00e4glichen Lebens zwischen Nachbarn in verschiedenen europ\u00e4ischen Staaten hervorhebt. Die Ausstellung veranschaulicht, wie diese Normalit\u00e4t durch das Nazi-Regime schrittweise zerst\u00f6rt wurde. Auf Grundlage der Rassenideologie wurden Sinti und Roma, ebenso wie Juden, nach und nach entrechtet, ihrer Lebensgrundlage beraubt und schlie\u00dflich in die Vernichtungslager deportiert. Im nationalsozialistisch besetzten Europa wurden 500.000 Sinti und Roma ermordet.\u00a0<\/p>
