Video statement on the occasion <\/strong>of 2 August 2024, Holocaust Memorial Day for Sinti and Roma<\/strong><\/p>

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,<\/p>

mein Name ist Terry Reintke. Ich bin Co-Vorsitzende der Gr\u00fcnen hier im Europ\u00e4ischen Parlament. Am 2. August 2024 gedenken wir der 4 300 Sinti und Roma, die vor 80 Jahren brutal von der SS in Auschwitz-Birkenau umgebracht worden sind, und wir gedenken der 500 000 Sinti und Roma, die im Holocaust vom SS besetzten Europa umgebracht worden sind und derer, die inhaftiert, die gefoltert, die ausgegrenzt worden sind.<\/p>

Der dunkle Teil unserer Geschichte erinnert uns, wie Rassismus, wie Antisemitismus, wie Antiziganismus unsere Gesellschaften unseren Zusammenhalt kaputt machen k\u00f6nnen und den Tod, Folter, Ausgrenzung von Millionen von Menschen bedeuten.<\/p>

Und der Holocaust begann nicht mit den Gaskammern in Auschwitz, sondern mit einem langen Prozess der Entrechtung, der Entmenschlichung von bestimmten Gruppen in unserer Gesellschaft. Und das, sehen wir, ist immer noch Teil auch der politischen Auseinandersetzung heute.<\/p>

Im Europ\u00e4ischen Parlament haben wir jetzt drei rechtsextreme Fraktionen, rechtsextreme Fraktionen in den Mitgliedersitzen, die offen rassistisch, die offen antisemitisch, die offen antiziganistisch agieren, die mit Hass und Hetze versuchen, Stimmung gegen Minderheiten im Internet und auf der Stra\u00dfe zu machen, und wir als Demokratinnen und Demokraten m\u00fcssen dagegen zusammenstehen. Wir sehen, wie gro\u00df die Gefahr ist, nicht nur f\u00fcr Minderheiten, sondern f\u00fcr Demokratie, f\u00fcr Rechtsstaatlichkeit, f\u00fcr Grundrechte aller Menschen und gerade an diesem Tag.<\/p>

Indem wir diesen brutalen Lehren noch mal direkt gegen\u00fcberstehen, m\u00fcssen wir uns daran erinnern, wie wichtig es ist, dass wir nicht erst warten, wenn Dinge v\u00f6llig aus dem Ruder laufen, wenn Dinge v\u00f6llig eskaliert sind, sondern dass wir jetzt gemeinsam eine Brandmauer nach rechts aufbauen m\u00fcssen und sagen m\u00fcssen, wir k\u00f6nnen Antiziganismus in unseren Gesellschaften nicht akzeptieren, und wir werden klar gegen Hass und Hetze aufstehen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
