Porrajmos, a silenced genocide

A dramatization of Margarete Bamberger's from the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp by Rromane Siklǒvne

The letter written by Margarete Bamberger from the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp is one of the most striking testimonies of the harsh conditions in which the thousands of imprisoned Roma lived.

Rromane Siklǒvne wanted to contribute, with the dramatization of Margarete Bamberger’s letter, to remember the atrocities of the past and to draw attention to the current character of an anti-gypsyism that, during this pandemic, has grown throughout Europe.

“Without memory, the human being enters a solitude of silence and indifference; who does not remember loses his humanity”.

Elie Wiesel, survivor of Auschwitz and Nobel Peace Prize.
