“A Virtual Journey through history and Antigypsyism” – Commemoration in Italy

LIVE BROADCAST on Sunday, 2 August 2020, 16:00 - 18:30 CET

The Journey will report stories of Antigypsyism, persecution and memory, with a virtual live visit of the Auschwitz Memorial Museum and the extermination camp of Birkenau.

It will bring the direct testimonies of Rita Prigmore, who survived eugenic experiments during Nazism, of Goffredo Bezzecchi and Gennaro Spinelli, who survived the persecutions in the fascist Italy.

It will give voices to Italian Sinti and Roma communities, interconnecting many relevant places of Roma history and participation: Bolzano, Florence, Lucca, Milan, Rome, Turin, Monserrato, Prato, Agnone, Isernia, Lanciano, Laterza, with the contribution of scholars, activists, journalists, thematic experts, Eva Rizzin, Roberto Bortone, Alessandro Luciani, Alessandro Pistecchia, Domenico Guarino, Sergio Talamo.

The initiative will be opened by the Director of UNAR, Triantafillos Loukarelis, the President of Formez, Alberto Bonisoli, the head of the Italian delegation of IHRA, Ambassador Luigi Maccotta, the Hon. Emanuele Fiano.
